About
The H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Prosper and Excel) Soup Kitchen opened in July of 2009, and operates on Wednesdays, when a meal is served, and participants are free to socialize, engage in structured exercise or games, and be involved in nutritional demonstrations and/or talks. Health screenings and blood pressure checks are available. Grants have provided a well equipped exercise room, and a computer lab for teaching basic skills. Non-perishable food boxes are available to take home; produce and frozen items are given when available, as well as toiletries. A recently constructed climate controlled storage room, also with the help of community support, allows participants to have access to fresh produce. In reaching our goals of serving the multi-county area, 4,071 participants on Wednesdays during 2018 were served.
