PROVIDES DAILY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INTERVENTIONS TO CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS AND SUPPORT TO THEIR FAMILIES. AT THE CENTER, CHILDREN UNDER AGE 5 RECEIVE THERAPEUTIC CHILD CARE TREATMENT SERVICES. TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED. PARENTAL SUPPORT INCLUDES WEEKLY HOME VISITATION THAT IS INCLUSIVE OF FAMILY THERAPY AND PARENT EDUCATION, PROVIDED BY LICENSED INDEPENDENT SOCIAL WORKERS (LISW) OR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS (LPC). THE EVIDENCED "PARENT AS TEACHERS" MODEL IS USED FOR THE PARENT EDUCATION WORK. THE GOAL OF OUR PROGRAM IS FOR THE CHILD TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN TYPICAL PRESCHOOL OR PUBLIC-SCHOOL PROGRAM AND FOR THE PARENT TO HAVE LEARNED PROTECTIVE SKILLS ENABLING IMPROVED PARENTING. IN ADDITION TO THE COMMON FACTOR, OF CHILDREN WITH A DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY, OUR CLIENTELE ARE LOW-INCOME, OFTEN FAMILIES LIVING BELOW THE POVERTY LEVEL, MANY HAVE CHILD WELFARE INVOLVEMENT. IN FYE JUNE 30, 2017, A CHILD'S HAVEN INTRODUCED A "LIVE WELL" KITCHEN TO ENSURE TWO HEALTHY MEALS/DAY/CHILD. THIS YEAR, WE BEGAN A PARENT/CHILD INTERACTION GARDEN. THIS GARDEN IS DONE AS A "HANDS ON LEARNING ACTIVITY" WITH PARENTS AND CHILDREN. OF THE YIELD GOES HOME TO PARTICIPATING FAMILIES AND IS USED IN THE KITCHEN WITH THE CHILDREN. GARDEN WAS CREATED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A BOY SCOUT WORKING ON HIS EAGLE BADGE. PARENTS HAVE SHARED THAT THEY HAVE CREATED GARDEN BOXES AT HOME. SC DSS FARM TO PRESCHOOL SELECTED A CHILD'S HAVEN AS A SITE TO VISIT FOR TEACHING OF HEALTHY EATING, AS WE KNOW THAT GOOD NUTRITION IMPACTS ONE'S MENTAL HEALTH AND EDUCATION ABILITIES. A CHILD'S HAVEN PASSED THE MID-TERM REACCREDIATION OF NATIONAL ACCREDIATION IN MARCH OF 2017 BY CARF - COMMISSION ON ACCREDIATION OF REHABILITATION FACILITIES. A CHILD'S HAVEN JOINED SC PARTNERS ACROSS THE STATE AS MEMBERS OF SC ASSOCIATION FOR INFANT TODDLER MENTAL HEALTH, AS STATEWIDE WE ARE SEEING AN INCREASE IN PRESCHOOL EXPULSION. THIS PAST YEAR WE INCREASED OUR INVESTMENT IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO INCLUDE SENDING OUR CLINICAL DIRECTOR THROUGH THE FIRST CO- HORT FOR INFANT-EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH ENDORSEMENT (I-ECMH).
