In total, approximately 350 students actively participate in D.W. Daniel High School and R.C. Edwards Middle School bands. The high school marching band is a competitive organization and the Daniel-Edwards Band Boosters financially support participation in shows and competitions against other schools across South Carolina. As the marching band season ends, the winter guard competitions begin. The middle school 6th grade band participates annually in the Carowinds Music Days Festival, an adjudicated music festival for beginner band students. The national music festival takes the Edwards Middle School Festival Band on a multi-day musical and cultural excursion to some of the greatest destinations in the country. Concert festival for the middle and high school level bands is the culmination of the year's preparation. It is an adjudicated concert to evaluate performance as a musical ensemble.
