The Yancey County Rescue Squad was established in 1973 to provide the citizens of Yancey County with a service that provided vehicle extrication as well as search and rescue assistance. Now consisting of 23 members, the Yancey County Rescue Squad provides not only search, rescue, and vehicle extrication, but has evolved to consist of first responders capable of delivering care at the ALS level. We are recognized by the state of North Carolina as a non-transport intermediate level care provider.
