About this organization
Mission
To promote the improvement of agricultural practices through the operation of a fair and exhibit.
About
The Tri-County Fair Cooperative Association is held in Petersburg, WV, starting the last Saturday in July. The fair which started as a small agricultural fair in the early 1920s with displays in and on the lawn of the Grant County Courthouse has grown into a fair with exhibitors, participants and spectators from the three area counties, Grant, Hardy and Pendleton. The fair association works with youth from twenty-six (26) 4-H clubs in the tri-county area and seven (7) Future Farmer of America (FFA) chapters giving these young people a chance to exhibit their many different projects in a wide variety of fields. There are 22 Community Outreach Education Service Clubs involved in the fair. The fair offers commercial, farm and home exhibits as well as a midway with rides and games. The fair, for some non-profit and civic organizations, is the largest fund raiser of the year for many organizations such as the Lions and local fire departments. The fair holds three different events each year in which local high school students may compete for a scholarship to the school of their choice. The annual fair provides the funds to fund the scholarships and various other youth events.
