About this organization
Mission
Hampton Roads Pride unites the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and allied communities in support of inclusion, dignity and equality of all people.
About
Hampton Roads Pride organizes and produces the annual Pride Festival held in Town Point Park in Norfolk, Virginia, that draws 30,000 plus attendees. This is the largest Pride Festival held in Virginia. The prime waterfront location is exemplified by the only Pride Festival boat parade held in the country. The festival's primary focus is to instill pride in the local LGBT community and allies. This focus is achieved by encouraging celebration, visibility, and socialization in an accepting environment for all attendees. The festival includes a family area, LGBT history area, LGBT/allied vendor booth, LGBT/allied non-profit booths, and two entertainment stages with local and international entertainment. In addition to this one day event, Hampton Roads Pride organizes various other events during the year to further the mission of the organization. One such event is the block party held in Norfolk Scope which brings the community together for a night of dancing with various entertainers from the local LGBT community.
