Mission

BoatU.S. Foundation is an innovative leader promoting safe, clean, and responsible boating.

About

Course development - on water training - hands-on powerboating education is a sector of the overall boating industry that is significantly deficient in its availability to the general public. The sailing industry has a well-established education culture, which we feel, can be mirrored in the powerboating industry. This would lead to more educated boat operators, lower incidence of accidents, and ultimately a lower fatality rate. Creating safer, more educated boaters has industry wide ramifications. In 2018, there were 633 recreational boating fatalities, and this has remained relatively stagnant over the past 15+ years. What has also remained stagnant is the availability of a nationwide, consistent, and affordable opportunity for students to learn how to operate a powerboat in a safe and responsible way. These facts led us to the idea of developing our on-water training program, which is taught by licensed, USCG captains/trainers.
