The Arc of Loudoun is a nonprofit that advocates for, educates, serves, and supports people with disabilities and their families. Through its six primary programs - Ability Fitness Center, A Life Like Yours (ALLY) Advocacy Center, Aurora Behavior Clinic, Aurora School, Project Horse, and Open Door Learning Center Preschool - The Arc serves more than 7,000 people each year including people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, educators, advocates, volunteers, veterans, and members of the law enforcement, first responder and judicial system communities. The Arc of Loudoun strives to bring about a just, equitable world for people with disabilities.

AURORA SCHOOL AND OPEN DOOR LEARNING CENTER: THE AURORA SCHOOL SERVES 47 STUDENTS, AGES 5 TO 22 YEARS, FROM 9 SURROUNDING SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND ACROSS VIRGINIA, MARYLAND, AND WEST VIRGINIA WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES USING APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS (ABA) METHODOLOGY. USING THE LATEST TECHNIQUES, CURRICULA AND TECHNOLOGY, STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES BECOME ACTIVE PARTNERS IN THEIR INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM. AMONG THE SKILLS TAUGHT ARE: VERBAL BEHAVIOR; MATH; READING; SOCIAL SKILLS; SELF-MANAGEMENT; FUNCTIONAL LIFE SKILLS; VOCATIONAL SKILLS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS. OPEN DOOR LEARNING CENTER IS AN ACCREDITED PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN FOR CHILDREN AGES 2-7 YEARS. THE SCHOOL IS INCLUSIVE AND SERVES CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS, SPECIAL NEEDS, AS WELL AS TYPICALLY DEVELOPING CHILDREN. EACH CHILD'S LEARNING EXPERIENCES ARE INDIVIDUALIZED TO MEET HIS OR HER ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL NEEDS. THE AURORA BEHAVIOR CLINIC SERVES CHILDREN WITH AUTISM, BEHAVIOR CHALLENGES, LANGUAGES AND COMMUNICATION DELAYS, AND RELATED DISABILITIES.
