UWCV raised over $2.1 m during its annual campaign to make an impact on more than 60,000 unduplicated individuals in Central Virginia. Needs were evaluated by volunteers who make funding recommendations to the United Way board for approval. United Way continued to work with numerous programs to address education readiness. United Way facilitated a month long food drive throughout Central Virginia collecting 3 barrels of food for twelve community pantries. UWCV facilitated the backpack program for four elementary schools and continued to serve on the food for thought task force through the implementation of a backpack program in every Lynchburg City public school.
