Mission

The National Housing Conference educates decision makers and the public about housing policies and practices that create and support thriving communities with quality homes that are affordable and accessible to all. We convene and collaborate with our diverse membership and the broader housing and community development sectors to advance our policy, research and communications initiatives that effect positive change at the federal, state and local levels.

About

Policy development: NHC works with a broad coalition of housing stakeholders and advocates around a wide range of housing issues. Of NHC's members, no sector of affordable housing development and advocacy represents more than 20 percent, allowing for a diverse set of views and perspectives. In 2018, NHC held its annual solutions for affordable housing convening in Washington, DC, which drew 190 participants. NHC's monthly Restoring Neighborhoods Task Force shares research, policy changes and best practices for comprehensive community development. NHC convenes working groups around key policy issues including modernization of the Community Reinvestment Act and housing finance reform. We also host an annual policy summit, which we have held for over 80 years.
