The mission of the Village Learning Place is to promote literacy, cultural awareness, and lifelong learning through access for all ages to information, resources, and educational programs. Founded in 2000 as a part of a grass roots effort to preserve a valuable community resource after the closing of the Pratt Library branch #6 in Baltimore, MD, the Village Learning Place (VLP) was built on the commitment and dedication of community individuals and local and regional funding resources. The VLP's goal is to be leader and model in delivering high quality library services and educational programs in the City of Baltimore. The VLP will serve as an anchoring institution, a symbol of community pride, and a partner in creating healthy and cohesive communities.
