MARYLAND CASA CONTINUED TO PROVIDE ITS CORE SERVICES TO THE FIFTEEN LOCAL CASA PROGRAMS IN THE STATE. MARYLAND CASA DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED A PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN DURING FY2018 THAT INCLUDED OUTREACH TO THE MEDIA, COMMUNITY, AND BUSINESS COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND RESULTED IN THE NUMEROUS STORIES IN PRINT AND ONLINE MEDIA. MARYLAND CASA PARTICIPATED FOR THE TENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR AS A CHARITY TEAM IN THE BALTIMORE RUNNING FESTIVAL IN OCTOBER 2018 WITH CLOSE TO 195 RUNNERS PARTICIPATING IN THE VARIOUS RACES TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS AND FUNDS TO SUPPORT MARYLAND CASAS EFFORTS TO RECRUIT ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE AS ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN. THESE ACTIVITIES GENERATED SIGNIFICANT MEDIA INTEREST AND RESULTED IN INCREASED INQUIRIES FROM INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING WITH CASA. MARYLAND CASA HELD ITS 12TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN ANNAPOLIS, MD IN APRIL 2019. NEARLY 200 CASA VOLUNTEERS, STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS, AS WELL AS (CONTINUED SCHEDULE O) SIXTEEN WORKSHOPS WERE HELD ON ADVOCATING FOR YOUTH WHO ARE TRANSITIONING OUT OF FOSTER CARE, CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES AND SERIOUS MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, TRAUMA INFORMED CARE, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, ETC. CONFERENCE EVALUATIONS INDICATED A VERY HIGH LEVEL OF SATISFACTION WITH THE WORKSHOPS, SPEAKERS, ETC. MARYLAND CASA ALSO HOSTED A LARGE SYMPOSIUM ON FETAL ALCOHOL SPECTRUM DISORDERS IN JANUARY 2018, BRINGING NATIONAL EXPERTS TOGETHER IN ANNAPOLIS TO SPEAK ON THE IMPACT OF PRENATAL ALCOHOL EXPOSURE IN CHILDREN AND THE PREVALENCE OF FASD AMONG CHILDREN IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. MORE THAN 150 CASA VOLUNTEERS, STAFF, BOARD MEMBERS, SOCIAL WORKERS, AND OTHER CHILD WELFARE PROFESSIONALS ATTENDED AND THE SYMPOSIUM EVALUATIONS INDICATED A VERY HIGH LEVEL OF SATISFACTION WITH THE EVENT.
