About

The U.S. premiere of new Russian film Sobibor, marking the 75th anniversary of the Sobibor Nazi concentration camp uprising and the commemoration of its victims, was held on May 1 at the Russian Embassy in Washington DC. The film chronicled the most audacious and unlikely episodes of World War II and is based on true events of the daring revolt and mass escape of doomed prisoners of the concentration camp at Sobibor. The film director and lead actor Konstantin Khabensky and the film producer attended the premiere and answered questions from the 300+ attendees. Speakers at the event included: Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues at the US Department of State Thomas Yazdgerdi, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Israel Reuven Azar and American-Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation Board Member former US Ambassador to Russia and Bulgaria John Beyrle.
