IN ADDITION TO THE PERFORMANCES ON THE MAINSTAGE, THE NATIONAL THEATRE CORPORATION PRESENTS 3 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDE SATURDAY MORNING AT THE NATIONAL, COMMUNITY STAGE CONNECTIONS, AND THE HIGH SCHOOL TICKET PROGRAM. THE SATURDAY MORNING AT THE NATIONAL PROGRAM PRESENTS 60 PERFORMANCES PER YEAR ON 30 SATURDAYS FOR THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES OF THE WASHINGTON METRO REGION. THESE PROGRAMS ARE FREE FOR THE AUDIENCES AND FEATURE LOCAL ARTISTS FROM MULTIPLE GENRES INCLUDING THEATRE, MUSIC, DANCE, PUPPETS, STORYTELLING, ETC. THE COMMUNITY STAGE CONNECTIONS PROGRAM PAYS A ROSTER OF LOCAL ARTISTS TO PERFORM AT LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO CANNOT OTHERWISE ATTEND A PERFORMANCE AT THE THEATRE DUE TO PHYSICAL OR FINANCIAL LIMITATIONS. VENUES INCLUDE SENIOR CITIZEN CENTERS, HOMELESS SHELTERS, BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS, AND THE VA. THESE PERFORMANCES ARE FREE FOR THE AUDIENCES. THE HIGH SCHOOL TICKET PROGRAM WELCOMES 20 OR MORE STUDENTS PER MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION TO ATTEND A PERFORMANCE OF A BROADWAY TOURING PRODUCTION FOR FREE AND HEAR FROM A THEATRE INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL.
