THE MISSION OF THE DELAWARE MILITARY ACADEMY IS TO PREPARE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN FOR THEIR NEXT LEVEL OF EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE THEM WITH A FOUNDATION THAT LEADS TO GOOD CITIZENSHIP. IN ADDITION, WE WILL FURNISH THEM WITH A HEALTHY MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT WITH MILITARY TRAINING AS A REQUISITE FOR A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE OBLIGATIONS OF CITIZENSHIP AND SELF-DISCIPLINE AND TO AFFORD THEM OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROPER SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND EXPOSURE TO MORAL IDEAS.

THE NAVY JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS ("NJROTC") - THIS PROGRAM IS CONDUCTED AT ACCREDITED SECONDARY SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE NATION, BY INSTRUCTORS WHO ARE RETIRED NAVY, MARINE CORPS, AND COAST GUARD OFFICERS AND ENLISTED PERSONNEL. CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION IS AUGMENTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BY COMMUNITY SERVICES ACTIVITIES, DRILL COMPETITION, FIELD MEETS, FLIGHTS, VISITS TO NAVAL ACTIVITIES AND SERVICE ACADEMIES, MARKSMANSHIP TRAINING, AND OTHER MILITARY TRAINING. UNIFORMS, TEXTBOOKS, TRAINING AIDS, AND TRAVEL ALLOWANCE ARE PROVIDED BY THE NAVY. THROUGH THE NAVY JROTC PROGRAM, THE CADETS HAVE NUMEROUS OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP THEIR LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND ADVANCE THEIR RANK THROUGHOUT THEIR FOUR YEARS AT THE ACADEMY. THE DELAWARE MILITARY ACADEMY IS RATED BY THE NAVY AS A DISTINGUISHED UNIT WITH ACADEMIC HONORS. DMA HAD A GRADUATING CLASS OF 132 CADETS IN 2019. SINCE ITS VERY FIRST GRADUATING CLASS, DMA HAS WITNESSED A STEADY INCREASE IN ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS EARNED WITH THE CLASS OF 2019 EARNING IN EXCESS OF $14 MILLION. THE ACADEMY WAS NAMED A 2019 NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON AWARD RECIPIENT AND EARNED A 2019 RATING OF "EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS" BY THE DELAWARE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.
