The mission of the Seamens Center of Wilmington, Inc., is to meet the needs of the seafarers who visit the ports in the state of Delaware. The goal is to make their time in port a rewarding one by providing personal, practical and spiritual assistance. A warm welcome is extended to ease the pain of loneliness and isolation and to offer a respite from the hazards of the sea.

Provide seafarers with needed human services, such as TWIC escort services, transportation, telephone communication, clothing and supplies while they are visiting the port of Wilmington. TWIC escort services were provided to over 8,000 men. Transportation services, provided by volunteers driving center vans, were provided to over 9,000 seafarers. Also, during the month of December the center provides 'Christmas at Sea' gift boxes with donations from the community. SCW delivered gifts to over 1,060 seafarers who arrived in Delaware during December. In addition, about 1,392 ship visits were made to vessles calling at ports in Delaware.
