Mission

Active support of the arts.

About

It shall be the purpose of the council to facilitate scheduling, provide information, encourage activities and broaden the base of active support of the arts in the community. The council does this primarily in three areas: arts education, arts and crafts exhibits, and performances. The arts education accounts for 60% of the annual organizational expenditures. In one year's time, the Arts Council delivers 22 free exhibits in two galleries, and year-round classes, workshops and camps to about 3,000 individuals. The arts and crafts exhibitions show the art works by 22 painters, sculptors or photographers per year and the Pendleton Foundation Fine Crafts Gallery represents 145 regional crafts workers. In addition, the Pendleton Artists Resource Center assists fine and craft artists with free marketing, documenting, and social media consultation. Performances are offered twice monthly. The Blue Heron series features musical groups and the First Draft series features published authors speaking about their work. 2,000 individuals attend these events annually.
