THE MISSION OF THE NEW CASTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY IS TO ENRICH OUR COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING LIBRARY RESOURCES AND SERVICES TO MEET THE INFORMATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, CULTURAL, AND RECREATIONAL NEEDS OF THE CITIZENS OF NEW CASTLE. THE LIBRARY SERVES AS A COMMUNITY CENTER WHERE PEOPLE COME TOGETHER TO DISCUSS, LEARN, GROW, AND SHARE.

NEW CASTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY PROVIDED INFORMATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL MATERIALS AND SERVICES TO 72,794 VISITORS AND CIRCULATED 77,513 ITEMS IN BOTH PRINT AND ELECTRONIC FORMAT IN FY19. USE OF PUBLIC PCS AND FREE WIFI TOTALED 18,850 USERS. THE LIBRARY OFFERED 541 PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WITH 4,428 ATTENDEES. PROGRAMS RANGING FROM COMPUTER LABS, TECHNOLOGY, CULTURAL ARTS, AND BOOK DISCUSSIONS TO CHILDREN'S STORY TIMES, STREAM PROGRAMMING AND MUSIC PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN ARE OFFERED. COMMUNITY USE OF THE MEETING ROOMS ALLOWED 416 INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS AND GROUPS TO GATHER AT THE LIBRARY. WE OFFERED SUMMER FEEDING FOR THE 5TH YEAR SERVING LUNCH TO 207 CHILDREN DURING THE 9 WEEK PERIOD. THE LIBRARY'S INVOLVEMENT WITH COLONIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT CONTINUED WITH ATTENDANCE AT PARENT NIGHTS AT THE SCHOOLS, A TEEN BOOK DISCUSSION HELD AT WILLIAM PENN HIGH SCHOOL AND PARTICIPATION IN THEIR GSA. YOUTH SERVICES INVOLVEMENT AT FERRIS ALSO CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. NEW CASTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY DEBUTED THE BIKE BOOKMOBILE IN MAY WITH WEEKLY OUTINGS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER TO TAKE THE LIBRARY TO THE COMMUNITY, OFFERING MATERIALS TO BORROW, PROGRAM INFORMATION, AND STORY TIME FOR CHILDREN IN THE PARK.
