Mission

The mission of Heartland Chamber Music (HCM) is to connect, engage and inspire students of all ages and backgrounds through a lifetime of music education and performance.

About

Since 2001, Heartland Chamber Music (HCM) has hosted internationally recognized summer chamber music festivals for thousands of students ages 6-76. These festivals develop audiences for the future of arts, support existing chamber music concert series in Kansas City and are a model for developing leadership and communication skills that build confidence through performance. In July 2019, the Heartland Chamber Music Festival hosted the Grammy award- winning Harlem Quartet for a residency and performance. The 76 students attending the Festival had the opportunity to work directly with the Harlem Quartet in coaching and rehearsals in addition to working with an international roster of professional musicians during the 9 day Festival. The 8 Festival Scholar's students performed live on Kansas Public Radio. HCM Festivals continue to garner national attention attracting students worldwide while continuing to serve our local and regional talent. This July 2019 Festival marked our 10th year in partnership with the Carlsen Center at Johnson County Community College.
