Mission

Kansas Appleseed believes Kansans, working together, can build a state full of thriving, inclusive, and just communities. We provide in-depth research, grassroots mobilization, and lobbying to champion laws and policies that ensure all Kansans have the resources they need to support themselves and raise a healthy family; all Kansans can participate fully in the community under equal protection of the law; and all Kansans benefit from a fair and effective judicial system. In other words: Justice for all.

About

The juvenile justice reforms Kansas Appleseed championed resulted in a 51% reduction in youth incarceration in the state's prisons. Through Kansans United for Youth Justice--a coalition staffed by Kansas Appleseed--the organization continues to work with formerly incarcerated youth, state agencies, and partner organizations to ensure community-based alternatives to incarceration are implemented. Kansas Appleseed also released a report examining racial inequity within the Kansas juvenile justice system and provided recommendations for reducing these disparities.
