THE PURPOSE OF THE MOLLIE SPENCER FARM, INC. IS TO PRESERVE AND MAINTAIN THE ORIGINAL 1894 SPENCER HOMESTEAD AND TO MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE COMMUNITY THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PART IN AGRICULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES THAT TAKE PLACE IN THIS URBAN FARM SETTING.

IN ADDITION TO THE EVENTS LISTED BELOW, THE MOLLIE SPENCER FARM CONTINUES TO PROVIDE RESIDENCE TO SHEEP, DONKEYS, COWS, AND HONEYBEES ON THE PROPERTY. ADDITIONALLY, AN EQUINE FOSTER PROGRAM WAS INTRODUCED AT THE FARM WHICH NOW PROVIDES A HOME FOR TWO HORSES THAT WERE IN NEED OF A TRANQUIL ENVIRONMENT WITH FEW DEMANDS. THE FOSTER PROGRAM PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP PROGRAMS TO ADDRESS ANIMAL WELLBEING. THE FARM ALSO FORGED A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOCAL MIDDLE SCHOOL AND NUMEROUS YOUTH SERVING ORGANIZATIONS WHO HAVE MADE THE PROPERTY AN OUTDOOR CLASSROOM FOR EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES YEAR ROUND. AT THE END OF 2018 RESEARCH BEGAN ON THE BIRD POPULATION WHICH LIVE OR MIGRATE THROUGH THE FARM. THIS RESEARCH WILL DEVELOP INTO NEW PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FARM AND THE COMMUNITY OF YUKON. APRIL EASTER ON THE PRAIRIE HOSTED BY THE CHISHOLM TRAIL HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY, THIS ANNUAL EVENT INCLUDED EASTER EGG HUNTS, DEMONSTRATIONS BY LOCAL FIRE AND EMS DEPARTMENTS, A KIDS TRAIN, DANCING, ETC. IT WAS ESTIMATED THAT 3,000 PEOPLE WERE IN ATTENDANCE. APRIL IRON THISTLE SCOTTISH FESTIVAL HOSTED BY THE UNITED SCOTTISH CLANS OF OKLAHOMA, THIS ANNUAL 3 DAY EVENT INCLUDED TRADITIONAL SCOTTISH ATHLETICS, ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD AND CLAN TENTS. IT WAS ESTIMATED THAT 8,000 PEOPLE WERE IN ATTENDANCE DURING ALL THREE DAYS. JUNE CHISHOLM TRAIL FESTIVAL HOSTED BY THE CHISHOLM TRAIL HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY, THIS ANNUAL EVENT INCLUDED CHISHOLM TRAIL AND CIVIL WAR REENACTMENTS, A CRAWFISH BOIL, WILD WEST SHOWS, CHILDRENS ACTIVITIES AND LOCAL VENDORS. IT WAS ESTIMATED THAT 7,500 PEOPLE WERE IN ATTENDANCE. JUNE KIRKPATRICK OIL COMPANY PICNIC ANNUAL COMPANY PICNIC WITH AN ESTIMATED 120 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE. JUNE THROUGH AUGUST YOUTH SERVING ORGANIZATIONS HOSTED NUMEROUS ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING THE GIRL SCOUTS, BOY SCOUTS, BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB, AND LOCAL DAY CARE CENTERS. YOUTH SPENT TIME LEARNING ABOUT THE ANIMALS THAT RESIDE ON THE FARM AS WELL AS THE HISTORY OF THE CHISOLM TRAIL AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE FARM. ORGANIZATIONS WERE ALSO ABLE TO USE THE FARM TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR PROGRAM GOALS. SCHOOL YEAR YUKON MIDDLE SCHOOL THE YUKON MIDDLE SCHOOL, LOCATED NEXT DOOR TO THE FARM UTILIZES THE FARM AS AN OUTDOOR CLASSROOM FOR THEIR SCIENCE AND WILDLIFE EDUCATION CURRICULUM. ADDITIONALLY, THE SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT CONDUCTS NATURE WALKS AND PROVIDES STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND LEARN ABOUT THE ANIMALS AND BEES THAT INHABIT THE FARM. THE SCHOOL WORKS IN COORPERATION WITH THE FARM STAFF TO CONDUCT THESE PROGRAMS.
