About this organization
Mission
Providing pianos to financially challenged families and organizations; changing lives through music
About
Pianos for People breaks down financial barriers that prevent those from disadvantaged backgrounds from accessing the many well-documented benefits of playing the piano. We provide access to music to those whose lives need it most by providing quality pianos, lessons, summer camps and community activities at no cost. Since our inception in 2012, Pianos for People has sourced (donated) serviced and delivered over 250 free quality pianos to people who could not otherwise afford an instrument. In 2018 alone, we were able to source, service and deliver 42 pianos. See schedule osince opening our free piano school on Cherokee Street our student body has more than quadrupled from 40 to 180 students taking regular, weekly lessons. We opened our first satellite studio in October 2016 in Ferguson, MO, and are now teaching 21 hours per week, offering group and private lessons, music production workshops, and events. Our free summer music camps offer a safe, enriching activity during those critical out-of-school hours. This past summer over 150 youth participated in programs over a six-week period. In addition to music education, our efforts center around personal growth and character development including confidence building, self-discipline and a sense of pride.
