Apprenticeship program: UCC's selective apprenticeship program puts students from different high schools across New Orleans on a diverse team to earn hourly pay and school credit for building a house in a semester. On Saturdays, apprentices collaborate on site with staff and community volunteers to complete various construction projects. Through development and industry exposure through a range of activities, trainings and field trips. In the process, apprentices gain technical skills and leadership experience through 120 hours of exposure to the construction industry. There were 41 enrolled apprentices in FY18-19.
