THE FOUNDATION FOR UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL WAS FORMED IN 2014 FOR THE EXCLUSIVE PURPOSE OF SUPPORTING THE OPERATIONS OF UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AND THE HOSPITAL'S PUBLIC MISSION TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE HEALTHCARE PROGRAM AND HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO THE GREATER NEWARK COMMUNITY, INCLUDING OUTREACH AND MOBILE HEALTH SERVICES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPIRIT AND INTENT OF THE "AGREEMENTS REACHED BETWEEN COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT NEGOTIATORS REGARDING NEW JERSEY COLLEGE OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY AND RELATED MATTERS OF APRIL 30, 1968," AS WELL AS SERVICES IN COLLABORATION WITH THE NEWARK BASED SCHOOLS OF RUTGERS BIOMEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES.

UH CANCER CENTER: SEE, TEST & TREAT: FREE BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING FOR UNINSURED WOMEN IN THE GREATER NEWARK AREA WITH SAME-DAY RESULTS (80 WOMEN WERE SCREENED ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2018 AND 18 SCREENED AT THE WOMEN'S WELLNESS SUMMIT ON MARCH 13, 2019.)2. THE NEW JERSEY TRAUMA CENTER AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL: HOSPITAL-BASED VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM (AS OF 6/30/19, THERE ARE OVER 200 PARTICIPANTS)3. THE NEW JERSEY TRAUMA CENTER AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL: TRAUMA SURVIVORSHIP PROGRAM AS OF 6/30/19, THERE ARE OVER 120 PARTICIPANTS.4. THE NEW JERSEY TRAUMA CENTER AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL: HVIP GRADUATION BANQUET (52 PATIENT PARTICIPANTS IN APRIL 2019)5. UH WE CARE CLOSET: CLEAN, NEW, DIGNIFIED CLOTHING FOR PATIENTS IF NEEDED BY SOCIAL WORKERS UPON DISCHARGE THE PROGRAM BEGAN IN THE SPRING OF 2018. AS OF 6/30/19, 400 PATIENTS WERE PROVIDED CLEAN, NEW CLOTHING. 6. UH OBGYN: PREGNANCY SUPPORT FROM HEALTH EDUCATORS FOR NEW AND EXPECTANT MOTHERS. (112 EXPECTANT MOTHERS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM IN FY 2019)7. UH CANCER CENTER: ONCOLOGY PATIENT HOLIDAY PARTY (71 PATIENT PARTICIPANTS IN DECEMBER 2018)8. UH OBGYN: PREGNANCY CENTERING BABY SHOWER (42 PATIENT PARTICIPANTS IN NOVEMBER 2018)9. UH OBGYN: UH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TASK FORCE (WE SUPPORTED PROMO AND COLLATERAL MATERIALS FOR DV AWARENESS WEEK IN OCTOBER 2018.)10. UH COMMUNITY: NEWARK PUBLIC SCHOOLS: STOP THE BLEED! (WE DONATED 550 BATTLEFIELD BLEED KITS, IMPACTING NEARLY 36,000 STUDENTS AND OVER 5,500 EMPLOYEES. ONE BLEED KIT CAN TREAT 3-4 PEOPLE DEPENDING ON INJURIES, INCREASING THE CHANCES OF SURVIVAL UNTIL EMS ARRIVES.11. UH FAMILAR FACES: IN ORDER TO CURB FREQUENT, UNNECESSARY ED VISITS, HEALTHCARE CHAPLAINS SERVE AS CASE MANAGERS TO A TARGETED GROUP OF PATIENTS TO CONNECT THEM WITH DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS AND OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES, IMPROVING THEIR HEALTH OUTCOMES AND SAVING UH TIME AND MONEY. (THE FOUNDATION DONATES PROGRAM INCENTIVE GIFTS FOR THE PATIENTS. AS OF 6/30/2019, THERE ARE 24 PATIENTS PARTICIPANTS.)
