Mission

The mission of HEAL is to empower individuals and groups with a safe, professional, and therapeutic equine experience. HEAL supports the limitless emotional growth and healing potential created by the bond between horse and human. HEAL was built to provide equine assisted psychotherapy services (EAP) and equine assisted learning (EAL) directly to our veterans and their families.

About

In 2018 HEAL's proposal was accepted to conduct a major day long event in partnership with TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) during their annual Memorial Day weekend. TAPS bussed attendees from their Arlington, VA conference to the HEAL location in Catlett, VA. Participants included the spouses and families of veterans killed in combat or by their own hand. Attendees participated in 4 EAL (Equine Assisted Learning) sessions with two mental health professionals and 2 equine specialists. There were 6 volunteers. Participants indicated that it was the most meaningful and helpful therapeutic environment they had ever experienced. All sessions were conducted using the EAGALA model. All HEAL E.S. and the M.H. are EAGALA certified.
