Mission

We conserve at-risk ecosystems through village-led partnerships. Planet Indonesia provides an innovative solution that holistically empowers rural communities living in tandem with the world's most biologically diverse ecosystems. We engage locally-led solutions utilizing a human-rights based approach to nature conservation and sustainable development. By reducing socio-economic inequalities and removing barriers our approach catalyzes community-led conservation while improving human well-being.

About

Our program services were carried out in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. We provide economic benefits to communities in exchange for adopting new resource management plans centered around large protected areas in Indonesia. Our model utilizes a unique four-step approach to help communities achieve fair and equitable development by building conservation compacts. We facilitate green prosperity through i identifying new livelihoods and sources of income, ii transferring assets and providing production training to launch businesses e.g seedlings, fertilizer, livestock, etc, iii building communiyt capital by creating savings and loans programs at the village level, and iv providing mentoring and life skills coaching to promote long-term sustainable development.
