Mission

The mission of Cozad United Way is to unite people and resources to build a stronger, healthier and more compassionate community

About

Cozad United Way conducts an annual campaign to raise funds to distribute to tax-exempt agencies who have applied for funding. Other needs in the community were met as follows: United Way gave each student in kindergarten, first and second grade a hard cover book. Board of directors went to each classroom and personally gave each student a book and talked to them about the importance of reading. The Cozad Kidney Fund provides assistance with transportation cost for going to the nearest dialysis unit that is 50 miles away. The Elementary Afterzone Program grant was written to serve 108 students. With attendance at 156 and over 50% of the students receiving free and reduced meals additional funds were needed to fill the gap. United Way provides funds so no student is put on a waiting list. Funding allows all students a safe place to develop and enhance their academic, social and emotional abilities in order to achieve their potential and become more effective, productive students.
