Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) was formed March 7, 2014 as a not for profit public charity corporation. The mission of ACHE is to construct, develop, and operate an osteopathic medical school in Fort Smith, Arkansas, as well as schools for other health care professions. Application was made by ACHE to become qualified as a tax exempt organization under 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Service code. A determination letter of approval was received from the IRS on September 29, 2014. ACHE accepted its first class of students in the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in July 2017. ACHE was awarded an NIH grant in May, 2018 in the amount of $323,628 for the period of June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2021.
