HNC Living Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping head and neck cancer patients live life fully during and after treatment by providing financial aid. Our grants fund services and programs that directly benefit head and neck cancer patients, supporting their treatment and recovery. We know far too many head and neck cancer patients face financial challenges that are as overwhelming as the medical challenges. Things that can make a huge difference in their recovery and quality of life – therapies, treatments, equipment – are out of reach. There are few places to turn for help. HNC Living Foundation is here to change all that.
About
For many head and neck cancer patients, the financial challenges are just as overwhelming and burdensome as the medical challenges. The additional expense of medical treatments, therapies, prescriptions, and co-pays - often with limited insurance coverage - puts a strain on household budgets and relationships. Rehabilitation and regular follow-up care is critical to long-term health and many patients do not have the financial means to afford these quality-of-life treatments and therapies. Head and neck cancer often affects breathing, eating, drinking, speaking, and voice. It can have a significant impact on a person's physical appearance, social interaction and self-esteem and this affects a person's willingness or ability to socialize or return to work. Founded in November 2013 by Teresa and Tom Walsh, HNC Living Foundation was organized with the specific mission of becoming the national resource to help head and neck cancer patients live life fully, during and after treatment, through financial aid. Although starting local, our vision is to become a national resource of financial assistance for head and neck cancer patients. We do this primarily through grant funding to nonprofit organizations and healthcare providers to support programs, services, or treatments that provide direct benefit to head and neck cancer patients during their treatment and/or recovery. Individual assistance also may be available directly through the Foundation. Since September 2015, we have awarded nearly $1,334,470 in grants to benefit head and neck cancer patients in need. We are funding services for individual patients and programs at nonprofit organizations and healthcare providers that provide nutritional supplements, dental services, prescription assistance, at-home medical supplies, transportation assistance, and much more. This support will result in improved patient outcomes in overall health and well-being and in improved financial stability.Through the end of 2018, more than 3,000 patients have been helped through the Foundation's financial assistance program.
