CAC2 HOSTED A WELCOME AND NETWORKING RECEPTION ON SEPTEMBER 20, AT CUREFEST 2019 IN WASHINGTON, D.C., FOR CAC2 MEMBERS AND INVITED GUESTS; APPROXIMATELY 75 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED THE EVENT. THE MISSION OF CUREFEST IS TO MAKE CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH A NATIONAL PRIORITY BY UNITING THE CHILDHOOD CANCER COMMUNITY, THE GENERAL PUBLIC, THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY, AND ELECTED LEADERS. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ASSOCIATION OF PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY SOCIAL WORKERS (APOSW), THE ASSOCIATION OF PEDIATRIC HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY NURSES (APHON), AND KBI BIOPHARMA, CAC2 CONTINUES TO IMPROVE THE USER FEATURES OF THE HOPE PORTAL (HOPE-PORTAL.ORG) AND EXPAND THE NUMBER OF FEATURED ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE SERVICES TO FAMILIES IMPACTED BY CHILDHOOD CANCER. HOPE PORTAL IS A VITAL RESOURCE FOR THE CHILDHOOD CANCER COMMUNITY THAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR FAMILIES IMPACTED BY PEDIATRIC CANCERS TO FIND SOURCES OF SUPPORT IN SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHIC AREAS TO HELP EASE THE MANY BURDENS AND CHALLENGES OF CHILDHOOD CANCER.CAC2 MEMBERS AND GUESTS MET AT NATIONWIDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN COLUMBUS, OHIO, FROM JUNE 18-20 FOR THE 2019 CAC2 ANNUAL SUMMIT. INVITED SPEAKERS ADDRESSED TOPICS SUCH AS NEW IMMUNOLOGIC THERAPIES FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER; NON-TRIAL ACCESS TO INVESTIGATIONAL DRUGS; CHILDHOOD CANCER SURVIVORSHIP ISSUES; BIOBANKING IN THE CONTEXT OF CANCER CLINICAL TRIALS; AND PSYCHOSOCIAL IMPACT OF PEDIATRIC CANCER ON FAMILIES. THE SUMMIT ALSO FEATURED NETWORKING DINNERS FOR THE ATTENDEES AND THE ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING FOR CAC2 MEMBERS WHERE OBJECTIVES FOR COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVES WERE AGREED FOR THE COMING YEAR IN THE AREAS OF RESEARCH & TREATMENT; FAMILY SERVICES & SURVIVORSHIP; AND ADVOCACY & AWARENESS.CAC2 CONTINUES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL CANCER RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP, COLLABORATING TO PROVIDE FUNDING DATA IN A CENTRAL REPOSITORY OF PEDIATRIC CANCER RESEARCH STUDIES AS AN EFFECTIVE MEANS TO ASSESS FUNDING PRIORITIES AND GAPS. THIS VALUABLE TOOL ALSO HELPS TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH PROJECTS, INCLUDING THE POTENTIAL FOR CO-FUNDING PARTNERSHIPS.
