About this organization
Mission
Grace's mission is to provide excellent care for rescued Grauer's gorillas and work alongside Congolese communities to promote the conservation of wild gorillas and their habitat.
About
Rescue, rehabilitation, and reintroduction: Grauer's gorillas only live in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa. They are critically endangered due to widespread habitat destruction and poaching, threats associated with the ever-growing human population. Over the past decade, insecurity in eastern DRC has amplified these threats, making the situation even more dire. Grace is committed to caring for every Grauer's gorilla that is rescued. We support local and international groups in their rescue and emergency care operations and strive to ensure the gorillas get the most natural environment and best care possible for rehabilitation. Grace is not intended to be a permanent home for orphaned gorillas, but rather a place where they can heal and learn the skills needed to survive in the wild, if reintroduction is possible.
