Elk River Arts & Lectures (ERAL) was founded to facilitate an ongoing lecture and reading series in Livingston, Montana, and surrounding rural communities. Writers are brought in to read and/or lecture for the benefit of both the general public and local schoolchildren. There are several author programs each year, held either in the public schools or in a nearby conference facility. Program participants pay fees to attend lectures, except for those held in the public schools. The most significant event is a workshop held in October, where six authors speak and lead workshops.
