About

2018 Program Accomplishments AWITSC hired Keyla, a 2016 high school graduate and founding Squad member of Word on the Street and our first primarily Spanish speaking staff member. AWITSC provided a Summer Institute to 25 youth of color in the Word on the Street program, which included art tracks in podcasting, writing and editing, local news broadcasting, visual arts, and marketing. We expanded our afterschool program from 2 afternoons to 4. For the first time, during Fall of 2018, we were able to have artist mentors working each week with the youth. We held artist mentor professional development sessions.
