About this organization
Mission
To promote programs and activities which will enhance forest resource management, forest products utilization, forest health and protection, and contribute to the welfare of the people in the western states.
About
The Council of Western State Foresters provided executive leadership support to ensure the sustainability and health of western forests in meeting today's needs and those of future generations. The CWSF participated in, coordinated, and staffed the Western Forestry Leadership Coalition and its work. The CWSF serves 34 state and federal agency leaders, numerous state, federal, and non-profit partners via 2 meetings each year with over 70 attendees and over 7 smaller, issue-focused meetings such as the Pacific Island Forestry Committee and the Western Fire Managers Committee meetings. The CWSF leadership meets monthly and, combined with the in-person meetings, we address forest management issues of mutual concern and facilitate interagency dialogue, planning, and problem solving. We track west-wide accomplishments, develop materials, research policy needs, and build relationships.
