Mission

The mission of Minnesota Alliance With Youth (the Alliance) is to work in partnership with youth to ensure that all young people have equitable educational opportunities that foster their individual assets, honor their voices, and prepare them to reach their goals.

About

Americorps: In 2018/19, 136 Americorps Promise Fellows statewide devoted a year of service to narrowing the achievement and opportunity gaps in MN by providing supports to youth across urban, suburban, and rural communities. Promise Fellows increase the capacity of schools and community organizations by using an array of evidence based strategies; tracking attendance, monitoring behavior, and supporting academic growth through connections to caring adults, service and service-learning opportunities, and out of school supports. During the 2018/19 program year, Americorps Promise Fellows provided over 105,000 interventions to students and served a total of 3196 youth for a minimum of 90 days through individual and group supports. 1346 students showed improvement in attendance, tardiness, student engagement instrument score, or homework completion. Additionally, 11 Americorps Vista members served at nonprofit and education partner host sites to strengthen and connect resources and best practices to better serve youth, especially youth people of color and youth living in poverty.
