IN 2017, AMERICAS HEALTH FOUNDATION (AHF) CARRIED OUT A WORKSHOP AND DEVELOPED A WHITE PAPER ON HEALTH TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT IN ONCOLOGY, WHICH WAS HELD AS AN OFFICIAL EVENT LINKED TO ISPOR'S 6TH LATIN AMERICAN CONFERENCE, AND DISCUSSED HOW HEALTH SYSTEMS CAN WORK TOGETHER TO PROPERLY ADOPT INNOVATION IN ONCOLOGY. AHF ALSO WRAPPED UP A MULTI-ACTIVITY DENGUE TASK FORCE FOR CENTRAL AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN, WHICH SOUGHT TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF DENGUE AND ADVANCE MEDICAL, POLICY AND PUBLIC HEALTH KNOWLEDGE REGARDING AVAILABLE METHODS OF DENGUE PREVENTION AND INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT, INCLUDING THE AVAILABLE VACCINE. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AHF PARTICIPATED IN A NUMBER OF CONSENSUS CONFERENCES IN LATIN AMERICA, DURING WHICH THE AHF BROUGHT TOGETHER EXPERTS FROM THROUGHOUT LATIN AMERICA ON A NUMBER OF TOPICS, WITH THE GOAL OF EVALUATING THE AVAILABLE SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION ON A PARTICULAR DISEASE AND ITS CORRESPONDING TREATMENTS AND DEVELOPING A CONSENSUS STATEMENT THAT, PUBLISHED IN A LATIN AMERICAN HEALTH JOURNAL, ADVANCES UNDERSTANDING OF THE ISSUE AND FORMULATES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITIES IN THE REGION, THUS PROVIDING ACTIONABLE STEPS THAT CAN BE TAKEN BY PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITIES. IN 2017, THE AHF CARRIED OUT CONSENSUS CONFERENCES ON VACCINATION IN ADULTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS, INCREASING ACCESS TO BIOMARKERS, INCREASING ACCESS TO IMMUNO-ONCOLOGY TREATMENTS, LONG-ACTING REVERSIBLE CONTRACEPTIVES, AND MERKEL CELL CARCINOMA. FINALLY, AHF IS ALSO PART OF A COALITION TO DEVELOP A PATIENT DATABASE FOR RARE DISEASES AND SEEKING ADDITIONAL FUNDING.
