IN 2013, WE SAW 21 VETERANS. AS OF NOVEMBER 2018, WE SAW OVER 250. IN JANUARY 2017, WE TRAINED 12 NEW FACILITATORS TO DELIVER OUR CURRICULUM FROM NY STATE, MA, LONG ISLAND, BALTIMORE AND DENMARK. IN 2018, WE TRAINED 9 MORE IN NC, RI, NY AND MA. IN 2019, WE PLAN TO TRAIN 4 MORE FACILITATORS IN AZ AND CA, MAKING OUR WAY TOWARD THE GOAL OF TAKING THIS PROGRAM TO A NATIONAL LEVEL BY OFFERING APPRENTICESHIPS TO BOTH VETERANS AND NEW FACILITATORS IN THESE REGIONS. IN THE FALL OF 2018, THE DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY AT THE VA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AT WEST HAVEN, CT HAS APPLIED FOR A $200,000 RESEARCH GRANT TO STUDY THE IMPACT OF OUR CURRICULUM ON VETERANS FOR TWO YEARS, BEGINNING IN 2020. IF THEY ARE AWARDED THIS GRANT AND THE RESEARCH REVEALS THE LONG TERM IMPACT OF OUR WORK ON VETERANS, WE WILL BECOME AN EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACH FOR TREATING VARIOUS ASPECTS OF STRESS RELATED TO TRANSITIONING FROM MILITARY TO CIVILIAN LIFE.WE ARE ALSO PLANNING TO EXTEND OUR REACH TO CLINICIANS IN THE MENTAL HEALTH FIELD, TRAUMA SURVIVORS AND ARE APPROACHING SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN THIS AREA TO CREATE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS WHO ARE TRANSITIONING TO HIGHER EDUCATION IN 2019.THE PRINCIPLES OF THIS PROGRAM ARE BASED ON OUR DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF PRECEPTS THAT GUIDE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING, NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP AS WELL AS TOOLS FOR RESILIENCE DERIVED NEUROSCIENCE AND RESEARCH ON EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE , ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
