About this organization
Mission
Ridge to Reefs (RTR) was formed in 2011 to help communities protect and restore ecosystems and reach tangible ecosystem improvements. Our focus is on the science and application of restoration and protection measures in coral reef and coastal ecosystems and in creating long-term resilience for both water and food security.
About
Restoration implementation - directly implementing restoration projects in agricultural, urban or rural watersheds. This can mean managing engineers, design, landscape architects as well as labor and volunteers to implement these projects. Examples of these projects have included oversight and project management on stormwater treatment projects, constructed wetlands to reduce nutrients and other pollutants from sewage treatment plants. Specifically, building 6-7 acres of treatment wetlands at the Guanica sewage treatment plant in SW Puerto Rico and hydroseeding over 10 acres of bare soils in the Guanica and Culebra watersheds in Puerto Rico are two examples.
