In 2019, over 1,500 community members came out to clean up 500 miles of waterway in the Meramec River watershed. Volunteers donated nearly 5,000 hours to remove 342 cubic yards of trash, 1,322 tires, and 15,275 lbs of metal from the watershed. Additionally, the Operation Wild Lands program engaged volunteers in the removal of invasive honeysuckle from the Meramec Greenway Al Foster Trail and in the planting of willow stakes in Lower Meramec Park to fight stream bank erosion.
