SEE SCHEDULE O.CASS COUNTY DENTAL CLINICDURING 2018, CASS COMMUNITY HEALTH FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO IMPROVE THE ORAL HEALTH STATUS OF LOW INCOME UNINSURED CHILDREN AND THOSE INSURED BY MISSOURI MEDICAID THROUGH ITS CASS COUNTY DENTAL CLINIC. THE CLINIC SERVED 3,615 CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS THROUGH 6,831 DENTAL VISITS. WITH LOCATIONS IN BELTON AND HARRISONVILLE, CASS COUNTY DENTAL CLINIC REMAINS THE FIRST AND ONLY FULL-TIME SAFETY NET DENTAL CLINIC IN CASS COUNTY SERVING UNDERSERVED CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO AGE 20.2017/2018 DENTAL SCREENINGSDURING THE 2017/2018 SCHOOL YEAR, CASS COMMUNITY HEALTH FOUNDATION HELD ITS ANNUAL DENTAL SCREENINGS AND HAD A RECORD YEAR. A TOTAL OF 4,774 CHILDREN WERE SCREENED THE HIGHEST NUMBER SCREENED SINCE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THIS ANNUAL SCREENING PROGRAM. PRE-K AND THIRD GRADE STUDENTS IN THE BELTON SCHOOL DISTRICT WERE SCREENED, AND THIRD GRADERS IN THE RAYMORE-PECULIAR SCHOOL DISTRICT WERE SCREENED. IN THE GRANDVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT, THIRD, FIFTH, AND SEVENTH GRADERS WERE SCREENED. IN THE PLEASANT HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT, FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADERS WERE SCREENED. IN THE HARRISONVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT, STUDENTS IN GRADES K, 1ST, 3RD, 5TH, 7TH, 9TH AND 11TH WERE SCREENED. IN THE DREXEL AND CASS MIDWAY SCHOOL DISTRICTS, STUDENTS IN GRADES K-12 WERE SCREENED. STUDENTS IN GRADES K-8 IN THE STRASBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT AND STUDENTS IN GRADES PRE-K THROUGH 8 IN THE EAST LYNNE SCHOOL DISTRICT WERE ALSO SCREENED. ALL STUDENTS GRADES K-5 WERE SCREENED IN THE ARCHIE SCHOOL DISTRICT. IN ADDITION, CHILDREN FROM THE HARRISONVILLE/ADRIAN AND BELTON HEAD START PROGRAMS WERE SCREENED. STUDENTS LEARNED PROPER DENTAL CARE TECHNIQUES AND RECEIVED DENTAL SUPPLIES TO REINFORCE ORAL HEALTH AT HOME. VARNISH APPLICATIONS WERE ALSO PROVIDED TO 2,617 CHILDREN WHO RECEIVED PARENTAL PERMISSION AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE AGAINST TOOTH DECAY. THROUGH THESE SCREENINGS, 988 CHILDREN WERE IDENTIFIED AS NEEDING NON-URGENT DENTAL CARE AND 61 WERE IDENTIFIED AS NEEDING URGENT DENTAL CARE. THESE SCREENINGS ARE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROMOTE GOOD ORAL HYGIENE TO ALL CHILDREN AND PROMOTE THE AVAILABILITY OF OUR CLINIC FOR LOW INCOME UNINSURED CHILDREN AND THOSE INSURED BY MISSOURI MEDICAID. NURSING AND HEALTH CARE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMCASS COMMUNITY HEALTH FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO SUPPORT LOCAL YOUTH INTERESTED IN A NURSING OR HEALTHCARE CAREER BY PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATES OF CASS COUNTY, MISSOURI HIGH SCHOOLS. DURING 2018, A TOTAL OF 24 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TOTALING $25,250. DURING 2018, STUDENTS FROM BELTON, RAYMORE-PECULIAR, GRANDVIEW, HARRISONVILLE, PLEASANT HILL, ARCHIE, AND SHERWOOD CASS SCHOOLS RECEIVED SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS.
