MACPHAIL CENTER FOR MUSIC TRANSFORMS LIVES AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH EXCEPTIONAL MUSIC LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT INSPIRE. IT IS OUR VISION TO PROVIDE STUDENTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND ABILITIES ACCESS TO INSPRING AND ENDURING MUSIC LEARNING EXPERIENCES THROUGH EXTRAORDINARY FACULTY, RELEVANT PROGRAMS AND INTEGRATED LEARNING TECHNOLOGY TO CREATE SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES. WE ACHIEVE THIS IN THREE WAYS: PARTNERSHIPS, PERFORMANCES, AND MUSIC EDUCATION AT OUR MINNEAPOLIS, APPLE VALLEY, AUSTIN(MN), CHANHASSEN AND WHITE BEAR LAKE SITES. IN ADDITION, MACPHAIL NOW OFFERS LESSONS LIVE, ONLINE. IN FY19, MACPHAIL REACHED 62,000 LIVES THROUGH PROGRAMS, WORKSHOPS, AND CONCERTS. PARTNERSHIPS: IN THE 2018-2019 ACADEMIC YEAR, MACPHAIL'S COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM PROVIDED SERVICES TO 9,700 STUDENTS IN 104 LOCATIONS. THAT REPRESENTS MORE THAN HALF OF ALL MACPHAIL'S STUDENTS. 52% OF THE STUDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM QUALIFY FOR FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH. PARTNERSHIP LOCATIONS RANGE FROM THE ECONOMICALLY-CHALLENGED SCHOOLS AND PRESCHOOLS TO HOSPITALS AND ELDER CARE FACILITIES. MACPHAIL'S ONLINE SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM, LAUNCHED IN 2011, NOW SERVES 1,500 STUDENTS FROM 21 RURAL MINNESOTA SCHOOLS WITH ONLINE BAND CLINICS, INSTRUMENT SPECIFIC SECTIONALS, CHOIR WORKSHOPS AND 1-TO-1 LESSONS.ONSITE MUSIC INSTRUCTION: IN FY19, MACPHAIL PROVIDED MUSIC EDUCATION TO 6,300 STUDENTS THROUGH OUR ON-SITE LOCATIONS IN MINNEAPOLIS, AUSTIN (MN), CHANHASSEN, WHITE BEAR LAKE AND APPLE VALLEY LOCATIONS. TO INCREASE ACCESS FOR STUDENTS IN FY19, MACPHAIL PROVIDED OVER $400,000 IN TUITION ASSISTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIPS TO SUPPORT THE ENROLLMENT OF 800 STUDENTS. THE AVERAGE ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME FOR FAMILIES QUALIFYING FOR AID WAS $31,179. MACPHAIL'S DEMOGRAPHIC SURVEY SHOWS AN INCREASE OF STUDENTS FROM RACIALLY AND ETHNICALLY DIVERSE BACKGROUND - FROM 21% IN 2013 TO 30% IN 2019. PERFORMANCES AND EVENTS: MACPHAIL FEATURES MORE THAN 450 LIVE CONCERTS AND EVENTS EVERY YEAR, REACHING OVER 30,000 GUESTS. IN FY19, MACPHAIL EVENTS INCLUDED THE MACPHAIL SPOTLIGHT SERIES, A SIX-PART PERFORMANCE SERIES SHOWCASING MACPHAIL'S FACULTY AND SPECIAL GUESTS. IN FY19, MACPHAIL CONTINUED THE SUCCESSFUL FREE FAMILY MUSIC SERIES, PROVIDING YOUNG FAMILIES WITH A LIVE CONCERT, FREE SAMPLE LESSONS AND A MUSIC-THEMED ART PROJECT, ATTRACTING SELL OUT AUDIENCES FOR EACH EVENT.
