About

HNIA has invested time and financial resources toward the development of the Edison Plaza & RiverFirst Demonstration Project - an environmental best practices demonstration area (featuring storm water management infrastructure and solar) and semi-public gathering space at Edison High School. This provides educational and access to potential career opportunities for inner-city youth HNIA hosted three well-attended events (a soup supper, a casserole cook-off, and a back-to-school BBQ) that brought out a total of almost 4000 people from the NE Minneapolis area across the three events, building connections for stakeholders including neighbors, public schools, and community leaders. HNIA worked to attract an affordable housing developer to an available property and is working to encourage the developer to build the highest quality project budget will allow. HNIA also revamped a long-neglected community garden that is heavily utilized by immigrants and began forming a partnership with local artists who wish to engage on environmental sustainability
