THE PURPOSE OF THE SOUTH ST. PAUL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION IS TO INVEST IN THE EDUCATION OF PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS OF SOUTH ST. PAUL SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS BY PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUPPLEMENTAL CLASSROOM PROGRAM FUNDING.

THE SOUTH ST. PAUL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION (SSPEF) HAS PROVIDED FUNDING FOR THE FOLLOWING DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 2018-2019. ON MAY 9TH THE SSPEF AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING 423,500 TO 150 SOUTH ST. PAUL GRADUATING SENIORS. APPROXIMATELY 70% OF SSP SENIORS RECEIVED A SCHOLARSHIP. THESE SCHOLARSHIPS COVERED A WIDE RANGE OF DOLLAR AMOUNTS AND WERE GIVEN TO STUDENTS ATTENDING 4-YEAR, 2 YEAR AND TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS. SSPEF ALSO PROVIDED PROGRAM FUNDING FOR CLASSROOM ENRICHMENT. THE FOUNDATION FUNDED SEVERAL PROGRAMS THIS YEAR TOTALING 54,041. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDED FUNDING FOR BOOKS, FIELD TRIPS FOR STUDENTS TO ATTEND LIVE THEATER PRODUCTIONS, ALL KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS ATTEND A FIELD TRIP TO DODGE NATURE CENTER FOR A FARM LESSON, AND 65 STUDENTS LEARNED HOW TO BUILD A CANOE AND THEN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN HOW TO SAIL IT. THE FOUNDATION ALSO GRANTED FUNDS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION SENSORY BOXES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO FUNDED ALL THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE FEES TO SUPPORT THE ENTIRE SOUTH ST. PAUL PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE 10TH ANNUAL FOUNDATION GALA WAS HELD ON AUGUST 8TH, 2018. OVER 44,000 WAS RAISED AT THIS ANNUAL EVENT WITH THE PROCEEDS DESIGNATED TO OPERATING THE FOUNDATION. THE FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL WALKATHON WHICH IS HELD THE 3RD WEDNESDAY IN SEPTEMBER EACH YEAR HELPS FUND PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES IN TEACHER'S CLASSROOMS. THESE MONIES ARE CRITICAL IN PROVIDING ENHANCED OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE STUDENTS OF SOUTH ST. PAUL. OVER 800 FAMILIES TAKE PART IN OUR ANNUAL WALKATHON AND ALL STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM THE PROCEEDS.
