About this organization
Mission
We provide free, anonymous mental health counseling to anyone with an urgent need and few resources.
About
Walk-In Counseling Center was founded in 1969 in response to the unmet need for accessible mental health services in the Twin Cities. Since then Walk-In volunteers (master degree and PhD clinicians) have provided free counseling to tens of thousands of people - and indirectly countless family members and friends - by helping them address intense mental health and emotional issues, and interpersonal concerns. In addition to helping people, we have improved the quality of mental health services in the community through our training and clinical consultation to counselors, social workers and other helping professionals and nonprofit and educational institutions in the Twin Cities. In Minnesota and the region, WCC provided training opportunities about professional ethics and boundaries, covering a variety of topics which include testimony in court cases. In 2018, 145 volunteers provided services to 2,550 clients in 5,029 sessions. The services were valued at $977,650.
