Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC) contracts with business organizations and individuals in the state of Wisconsin to provide comprehensive medical care benefits in exchange for prepaid premiums. Services as defined by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are provided to subscribers as needed, and generally without limitation as to time and cost. GHC is a staff-model HMO, whereby the clinic-based physicians are employees of and work exclusively for GHC. GHC operates six clinics in the Madison metropolitan area. GHC's enrollment as of December 31, 2018 was 77,037. In addition to providing HMO benefits and daily patient care, GHC's mission is to contribute to and aid community organizations, perform good deeds and to make Dane County a better place to live.
