Invest Jefferson: JEI seeks to support and develop inclusive neighborhoods and business districts that allow longtime Detroiters to benefit from the city's resurgence. In 2018, JEI completed the renovation of its former HQ into Norma G's Caribbean Cuisine, the first full service restaurant in the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood in more than 30 years. This location now provides employment for 25 area residents. JEI currently has two additional retail buildings under active redevelopment and 23 mixed income apartment units in under construction. Another $64 million of mixed use, mixed income developments are currently in predevelopment. Key support for this program comes from the Kresge Foundation and the Community Foundation for SE Michigan.
