About this organization
Mission
Helping people shape better communities through participation, education, information and the effective use of technology. LIAA also operates the local public access cable channels 189 and 191.
About
During the year, we worked with communities in Michigan to foster and support community-wide planning efforts that lead to the adoption of significant revisions to existing master plans to promote community resilience in the face of rapid economic changes and increasing climate variability. We are working with communities along the coastline of Lake Michigan and Huron to study the potential impacts of climate variability, lake levels and shoreline dynamics along Lake Michigan. As part of our mission, LIAA provides planning services, technical support, leadership training and facilitation services to other nonprofits and many local units of government. We also provide web site design, development and/or hosting services to over 50 governmental units and nonprofits. We provide the executive management services to the City of Traverse City and Charter Township of Garfield Recreational Authority.
