Since 1966, Peoria Ballet has served Central Illinois residents through professional performances, dance classes, and outreach education. The ballet has demonstrated a high level of artistic excellence through two annual professional level ballet performances. Annually Peoria Ballet presents The Nutcracker. Over 100 students expand their training by performing this high quality production with professional guest artists accompanied by a live orchestra to over 6,000 patrons - three public and two school performances. Peoria Ballet also presents a spring production of either a classical ballet, mixed repertoire, or an original work. Peoria Ballet has trained more than 2,000 students in pre- professional ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz and tap. Currently, the academy offers over 50 classes per week to over 180 students ranging in age from 3 through adult. Peoria Ballet students have been accepted into summer intensive programs at prestigious dance schools including Joffrey Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and Ballet Arizona. Recent alumni of Peoria Ballet have been accepted into companies at Arkansas Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Ballet Memphis.
