ENERGY EQUITY PILOT PROJECT SURPASSES GOAL UTAH CLEAN ENERGY INITIATED A NEW COMMITMENT TO ENERGY EQUITY IN 2018. OUR FIRST PILOT PROGRAM, THE SALT LAKE CITY NEIGHBORHOOD "LIGHT SWAP", HELPED LOW-INCOME AND UNDERSERVED HOUSEHOLDS REDUCE POLLUTION AND SAVE MONEY BY OFFERING AN ENERGY EFFICIENCY TOOLS AND EDUCATIONS ALONG WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO "SWAP" CONVENTIONAL LIGHT BULBS FOR ENERGY-SAVING LEDS. IN TOTAL, 181 HOUSEHOLDS SWAPPED OUT 1,432 LIGHTS, SAVING 16,772 (COLLECTIVELY) IN UTILITY BILLS YEARLY AND PREVENTING 124 TONS OF CO2 EMISSIONS ANNUALLY. EMPOWERING CLIMATE LEADERSHIP IN 2018, UTAH CLEAN ENERGY PARTNERED WITH SALT LAKE CITY'S SUSTAINABILITY DEPARTMENT AND FELLOW CLIMATE ADVOCACY GROUPS TO BUILD UTAH'S LEADERSHIP ON CLIMATE CHANGE. OUR PROGRAMS, PATH TO POSITIVE UTAH AND UTAH CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK ARE CREATING A BREAKTHROUGH URGENCY TO ACT ON CLIMATE CHANGE. WE HAVE PROVIDED A SERIES OF TRAININGS TO EMPOWER OVER ONE HUNDRED VOICES TO SPEAK EFFECTIVELY ON CLIMATE RISKS AND SOLUTIONS AS WELL AS CONVENED LOCAL EXPERTS TO TACKLE THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF CLIMATE SOLUTIONS. CLEANER AIR WITH ELECTRIC BIKES & ELECTRIC VEHICLES ELECTRIC VEHICLES (EVS) HAVE ZERO TAILPIPE EMISSIONS, MAKING THEM AN EXCELLENT TOOL TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY. TO HELP MORE UTAHNS MAKE THE SWITCH TO CLEAN TRANSPORTATION, UTAH CLEAN ENERGY TEAMED UP WITH LIVE ELECTRIC, UCAIR AND THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH TO PROVIDE STEEP DISCOUNTS AND EDUCATION ON EVS AND E-BIKES IN 2018 NEW WIND ENERGY FOR UTAH CUSTOMERS FOLLOWING MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF TESTIMONY AND HEARINGS, WHICH INCLUDED INTERVENTION BY UTAH CLEAN ENERGY, THE UTAH PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION APPROVED A PROPOSAL TO ADD 1,234 MEGAWATTS OF NEW WIND ENERGY IN WYOMING, WHICH WILL SERVE UTAH CUSTOMERS BY 2020 THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF A LARGE POWER PLANT, BUT IN THIS CASE, IT'S CLEAN, RENEWABLE ENERGY POWERING UTAH HOMES AND BUSINESSES. SOLAR ENERGY INNOVATION NETWORK UTAH CLEAN ENERGY TEAMED UP WITH SALT LAKE CITY, PARK CITY, AND MOAB TO PAVE THE WAY FOR MORE SOLAR ENERGY THROUGHOUT UTAH. THIS COLLABORATIVE GROUP COMPRISES THE "RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY IMPACTS AND SOLUTIONS" TEAM, ONE OF ONLY NINE TEAMS SELECTED NATIONALLY TO JOIN THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S SOLAR ENERGY INNOVATION NETWORK. UTAH'S FIRST NET-ZERO CONFERENCE LEADERS FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, THE BUILDING AND DESIGN INDUSTRY, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS CAME TOGETHER TO EXPLORE PATHWAYS TO ACCELERATE THE PROLIFERATION OF NET-ZERO ENERGY BUILDINGS DURING UTAH'S FIRST EVER NET- ZERO ENERGY SUMMIT. UTAH CLEAN ENERGY PARTNERED WITH FELLOW ENERGY EFFICIENCY ADVOCATES AS A MEMBER OF UTAH'S NET-ZERO CONSORTIUM, TO HOST THE EVENT UTAH CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK UTAH CLEAN ENERGY MANAGES THE UTAH CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK, WHICH FOSTERS DIVERSE CONVERSATION, LEADERSHIP, AND COORDINATED ACTION TO ENSURE A COLLABORATIVE RESPONSE TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS IMPACTS IN UTAH.
