To improve the Northern Illinois environment by carrying on the following activities: 1. Great American Cleanup: over 2,000 local volunteers focused on removing the winter's accumulation of litter. They cleaned over 311 miles of city and county streets and highways and collected nearly 55 tons of trash. 2. Clothing drives: residents bring unwanted clothing and other fabric items to 3 Rockford area Farm & Fleets and our Saviors Lutheran Church lots for the spring clothing drive where volunteers assisted with greeting and taking donations from the vehicle. The program relieved local landfills of over 80,000 pounds of clothing, linens, and soft goods. Clothing is also taken at recycle center every week collaborating with Goodwill. 3. Medication collection: residents bring their unused medication to 4 Winnebago County sites, Winnebago Mercy Health Clinic, South Beloit Fire Station, Loves Part City Hall and UIC School of Medicine where pharmacists and pharmacy students take the unused medication with the protection of local law enforcement. Other volunteers greet and organize the cars as they come in the lots.
